1000+ threshold -> poller hangs up

I would like to monitor error rates (error_in) on different switches on my network. About 1000 Datasources. When I enable the threshold poller process hangs up and everything is real slow. Is there some limitation in datasources? Who is monitoring how much thresholds?

Well that sucks. If I cant monitor 1000 thresholds thold plugin is pretty much useless...
