Boost causes rrdtool errors in Apache error log

Post by bldewolf »

I recently deployed a rather large (84k data sources) cacti deployment. I'm using spine and Boost with on-demand updating and png caching (no boost server). So far it's been going well, got everything tweaked and working fine with just me using it, but now that I have users poking at the website, I've noticed lines like these show up in the apache error log:

ERROR: illegal attempt to update using time 1210714310 when last update time is 1210714310 (minimum one second step)
ERROR: illegal attempt to update using time 1210717899 when last update time is 1210717899 (minimum one second step)
ERROR: illegal attempt to update using time 1210718499 when last update time is 1210718499 (minimum one second step)
ERROR: expected 2 data source readings (got 1) from 1210716938:276547
ERROR: expected 4 data source readings (got 1) from 1210716938:0
ERROR: expected 4 data source readings (got 3) from 1210716938:0:0:0

I've seen errors like these before, and they're coming from rrdtool. It doesn't happen every time someone pokes at the webserver, unfortunately, so I think it may be due to triggering the on-demand updater for a single graph multiple times. Has anyone seen this before? Got any fixes? I'll probably go poke at the source of the on-demand updater, but it's nice when someone else has solved the problem already.

Are you using the SVN version?

This is a problem. I have had no time to spend on addressing corner cases. When you goto the Updates plugin page, what version does it show for boost?

It doesn't show up in my plugin manager (I have it listed in global.php). It's svn revision 243, if that's what you're looking for...
