Issue getting data from server 2003

Post by mentasm »

Hi,

I have a strange issue.

If I try and add the windows server as a device, I get SNMP error displayed at the top of the device screen. I have tried using fully qualified host name and IP address.

Now for the wierd bit.

If I go to network tools in my Cacti install and put in either the FQDN or the IP address into the OID query, I get data back.

The target server is windows server 2003 R2 SP1.

Any ideas?

What detection method are you using when you add this device ? Is it set to SNMP, and have you tried v1 as well as v2c ?

On the R2 server if I set it to V2 I get the following:

System: No Such Object available on this agent at this OID
Uptime: No Such Object available on this agent at this OID (0 days, 0 hours, 0 minutes)
Hostname: No Such Object available on this agent at this OID
Location: No Such Object available on this agent at this OID
Contact: No Such Object available on this agent at this OID

which I guess is a step forward from the 'SNMP error' on v1

The detection is set for net-snmp 5.x

I also have another server 2003 standard that won't return anything on v1 or v2.

I do have about 12 Windows server 2000 and 2003 machines that work fine.

Did you install NET-SNMP on the Cacti box, and is the SNMP extension for PHP enabled ?

Are you able to walk the OID of these servers (SNMP walk) ?
