1) $ rpm -i net-snmp-5.4.x.svn200803270330-1.1.x86_64.rpm
warning: net-snmp-5.4.x.svn200803270330-1.1.x86_64.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 7641048b
2) $ rpm -i net-snmp-devel-5.4.x.svn200803270330-1.1.x86_64.rpm
warning: net-snmp-devel-5.4.x.svn200803270330-1.1.x86_64.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 7641048b
3) $ rpm -i net-snmp-perlmods-5.4.x.svn200803270330-1.1.x86_64.rpm
warning: net-snmp-perlmods-5.4.x.svn200803270330-1.1.x86_64.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 7641048b

snmp installation ?

Post by elayaraja.s »

Your right. Even i too followed the same link. According to the link http://docs.cacti.net/node/412 , it says that i need to install these 3 (net-snmp, net-snmp-libs and net-snmp-utils ) in my redh hat e5. but i have installed which is available from the net

1) $ rpm -i net-snmp-5.4.x.svn200803270330-1.1.x86_64.rpm (net-snmp)
2) $ rpm -i net-snmp-devel-5.4.x.svn200803270330-1.1.x86_64.rpm
3) $ rpm -i net-snmp-perlmods-5.4.x.svn200803270330-1.1.x86_64.rpm

Note: i hope from my installation i have not installed net-snmp-libs and net-snmp-utils. Since i am not able to find these util and libs for my "RedHat RHEL 5 x86_64 64 bits"

Please check the above rpm installation is sufficient. ?

Thanks for your reply.
Actually i get adivced to use net-snmp-5.4.x for my OS "RedHat RHEL 5 x86_64 64 bits" . Since you confirmed that you get succeede in your installation, so I planned to install your version of "net-snmp" .

net-snmp-5.3.1-19.el5_1.4.x86_64.rpm

You'd better install the packages using RHN or "yum".

Here's a list of packages :
lm_sensors-2.10.0-3.1
beecrypt-4.1.2-10.1.1
beecrypt-devel-4.1.2-10.1.1
elfutils-0.125-3.el5
elfutils-devel-0.125-3.el5

And use "rpm -Uvh" instead of "rpm -ivh" when you want to update packages.

And please, don't open 10 threads for the same problem

I've deleted the redundant threads, and left one for each of your issues (SNMP, MySQL, PHP, RRDtool).

Just to second that, I use RHES5 on a 64-bit system. Works perfectly but I used 'yum install net-snmp'. This way you get the official Red Hat package (assuming default repositories).

But I seem to remember I had to create snmpd.conf manually, no big deal as you are just overriding default values.

Timeout: No Response from localhost: /etc/hosts.allow

Post by elayaraja.s »

cat /etc/hosts.allow

#
# hosts.allow This file describes the names of the hosts which are
# allowed to use the local INET services, as decided
# by the '/usr/sbin/tcpd' server.
#

ALL:PARANOID:deny
sshd:ALL
#snmpd:ALL
#ALL:ALL:DENY

----------------
$ /etc/init.d/snmpd restart

snmpwalk -v 1 -c public localhost versiontag
Timeout: No Response from localhost

Could any one help us for the same.

Net-SNMP / RedHat RHEL 5 x86_64 64 bits

Post by elayaraja.s »

I had spend more time on this.

Better i planned to uninstall net-SNMP from my operating system RedHat RHEL 5 x86_64 64 bits and I will install freshly such as

net-snmp-5.3.1-14.el5.x86_64.rpm
net-snmp-libs-5.3.1-14.el5.x86_64.rpm
net-snmp-utils-5.3.1-14.el5.x86_64.rpm

i had seen there is no mib files available from the above rpm package. Could you please tell us which file will contain the required mib files.

That's an issue for the distro maintainer; not a topic for the cacti community. We do not provide MIBs
