New Linux user setting up 1st server (cacti error)

Hello all
I have installed cacti and am getting this error when localhost/cacti

Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysql_pconnect() in /usr/share/php/adodb/drivers/adodb-mysql.inc.php on line 376

If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be apreciated.

probably because ur PHP installation is configured without mysql support.

Do a phpinfo and see what is goin on .
