Problem with snmpget

Hi

When I do the following:

# snmpget -v 1 -c public localhost .1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1.0

SNMPv2-MIB::sysDescr.0 = STRING: Linux miraculix 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Tue Feb 12 07:42:25 UTC 2008 i686
#

Everthing is okay but when I do the other thing:

# snmpget -v 1 -c public 192.168.1.2 .1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1.0
Timeout: No Response from 192.168.1.2.
#

I work with ubuntu and to connect to the localhost (127.0.0.1)
works but it does not to the IP of the same host?
The interface is up no iptables are running and I can ping
to the Internet without any problem???

Why is that?

Do I have set snmpd for remote or something like that???

I remember there is a flag somewhere in a config file "-r"
for remote support but I forgot which config file it is.

I think you set up snmpd only on your localhost (by default).

Check in console, maybe on ps aux or top with which parameters is snmpd started. At the end of command probably you will have 127.0.0.1, just erase it in startup config file.
