Another 64-bit question

Post by ExtremePCs »

When I add a switch to be monitored that has, for example, 2 Gb ports and 48 10/100's, should I add the 2 Gb ports as 64-bit and leave the others standard? Or doesn't it matter if 10/100's use 64-bit?

Also, should I be using SNMP v2 or 1? The switches support v2, so I assume I should be using it? I know all too well what happens when you ass-u-me though :P

Thanks

You have to use SNMPv2c and you can use 64bit counters for all your interfaces. In general Cisco implements 64bit counters for interfaces faster than 20Mbps.
