Enable ICMP Ping

Hi everybody

I would like to use ICMP ping instead of UDP/TCP because some of our network equipment is reported down with UDP ping. How do I make it possible to use ICMP ping? Under device configuration it says that it requires root premissions. But how do i give that?

possibly run cacti as root, not very good idea though!
