with perl/php you have the ability to
1. use internal snmp-functions or
2. to start snmpwalk/get and parse the output
if you want to get snmp-data..
Which solution is better/faster/uses less memory?
did anyone some benchmarks? experience?

For me it looks like the following:
1. easy to use
faster command execution
basic functionality
2. flexibility (snmp v1, 2c and 3 covered)
slower because of external process execution time
faster in some cases (like bulk operations)
