Cacti 0.8.5a Out

Post by raX »

Cacti version 0.8.5a has been released. This is just a bug fix release, so it doesn't contain any new features. Either way, it is definitely a worthwhile upgrade, especially for the users who are trying to keep up with the slew of patches against 0.8.5.

Check out the full changelog below:

Code: Select all

-bug#84: Updated internal CDEF caching to take CFs into account.
-bug#86: Updated the LDAP code to correctly copy template users.
-bug#136: Inaccurate total bandwidth readings for RRAs with a step > 1.
-bug#138: Typo on install/index.php
-bug#141: Incorrect pre-requisite file check when doing a graph export.
-bug#142: Added the '-t' option when calling ucd-snmp or net-snmp to support numeric
timeticks.
-bug#145: phpMyAdmin was choking on the import of cacti.sql.
-bug#146: Minor HTML fix in lib/form.php
-bug: Fixed potential graph item input corruption when saving a graph template item.
-bug: Fixed problem saving a data source using a template that had more than one item.
-bug: Correctly display the console menu when authentication has been turned off.
-bug: Correctly display the two pane tree when authentication has been turned off.
-bug: Support regular expression characters in passwords: \+*?[^]$(){}=!<>|:
-bug: Fixed certain re-ordering problems when deleting branches from a graph tree.
-bug: Add support for a 3 digit exponents in RRDTool fetch output on Windows.
-bug: Correctly escape community strings with a quotation mark under Windows.
-bug: 95th percentile and bandwidth summation code should result in less errors
when things don't go as planned.

-feature: Make the 'None' option on the graph management and data sources host filter
dropdowns only display items with no host assigned. Add an 'Any' option to display

Cactid seems to be having a problem in this new version.
After a while it quits all threads but one and continues to the end with just one thread, obviously taking forever to complete.

Thus using the old cactid binary for now.

Which old version is working for you? It would be really odd if the cactid included with 0.8.5 worked for you, but the cactid included with 0.8.5a is causing problems. The *only* difference between cactid-0.8.5 and cactid-0.8.5a is the infamous SNMP session patch and the patch to popen to prevent process hangs. Both of these patches did fix certain problems even though it is always possible that they created more in the process.

I'm not exactly sure which version it it since I've just been copying over the binary that works, but...

cactid]$ strings cactid|grep 0.8
0.8.5

It definitely looks like you are using the 0.8.5 binary in this case. How this version works better than the 0.8.5a version is a mystery to me...

What version of Cygwin are you using? The most recent is the most stable. However, you might want to update the cactid.c file from 0.8.6 branch of CVS as it did have issues.

I'm using version 1.5.12-1 of Cygwin (the latest).
I use the cactid.c version that came with cactid 0.8.6b.
