RRDs not being updated anymore

Post by PabloFiasko »

hello alltogether,
I was running cacti 0.8.6j and two weeks ago it stopped updating graphs. In the log I found "Host[228] DS[484] WARNING: Result from SNMP not valid. Partial Result: ...". I looked around here and decided to update to 0.8.7a and spine.
I followed instructions but graphs still not update. So digging deeper I followed Gandalfs link "debugging nan's..." and discovered that my problem is at point 4 or 5 there - there is no line like "rrdtool update <filename> --template ..." in my debug log, also nothing regarding poller_output (but other things written to mysql...).
Maybe someone can pinpoint me to the right direction... I would have no problems deleting all my rrds and start from scratch (how to? I already tried to move and run spine manually but nothing is being created in /rra.
Dirmask is set to 775.
Running on Suse 10.2.
This applies to all my hosts (>150) - the included log shows only one...

1) System Utilities -> Repopulate Poller Cache

2) Make sure php memory_limit is >= 128mbytes (restart apache)

Follow this procedure in reverse order. Then,

1) Open shell
2) Login as cacti user "su - cactiuser"
3) php -q poller.php
4) What happens

Excactly the same problem here on SLES9.
mysqlcheck says everything is ok.
Setting the memory_limit to >=128M didn't work, the logs say everything runs fine, but no graphs are generated (nor rra's updated).
Are there anymore hints?

Thanks for your replies.
mysqlcheck found everything ok.
Rebuilding the poller cache looked good from what I saw on the http interface but did not change anything at last... :(
Memory limit is set to 128 megs.

I now decided to do a fresh install into a new database. Populated this with the devices from the former database - worked.
Now I am looking for a way to batch create all the graphs since I have many devices from which I graph the same things...

Using cli scripts is supported since 087, this should do the trick. FInd the documentation at http://docs.cacti.net. And each installations holds those docs as well in hte ./docs directory
