I'd like to point out a problem I encountered: I created a .rrd from cacti, with a DS, type COUNTER. When I check the .rrd file with 'rrdtool tune', all value are correctly reported.
But, when I try to change the DS type (to DERIVE, eg.), max or min value, from within cacti, the .rrd file is not updated. When checking with 'rrdtool tune', value reported are same as before.
Did I miss something, or can't cacti update an existing rrd ?
Cacti 0.8.x misses this feature (althought it was implemented in 0.6.x). As far as I understand Ian is going to get back this functionality to current cacti line at some point.
