64-bit counters

Post by tviktor »

Hello!
I have several win2003 server boxes with gigabit intefaces.
I tried to monitor them with In/Out bits (64 counters), but saw NaN's on graphs.

When I run

Code: Select all

snmpwalk -v 2c -c XXX server .1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1.6
I get

Code: Select all

IF-MIB::ifHCInOctets = No Such Object available on this agent at this OID
but

Code: Select all

snmpwalk -v 2c -c XXX server system
works fine!

What I need fix to use 64-bit counters - drivers or OS?

Windows responds to snmpv2 but doesn't implement 64bit counters. Google is your friend.

Did you not read my post? Windows does NOT implement ifHCInOctets / ifHCOutOctets.

I read. I thought 3rd party application like snmp-informant may fix it.
Now I understood.

Possibly, I haven't looked into the details of their product. Some NIC card manufactures provide additional SNMP add-ons too which might provide the data.
