Post by toseeme »

I have some cisco Switches and Routes,e.g.:cisco 3560,cisco 3825 and cisco 3845.When i added these devices in to the Catci,Cacti says "snmp error".
I don't know what problems. No templates or config problems? Who can help me?
Thank you so much.

The host templates are only really a shortcut to save you adding a base set of graphs manually each time. If you can't get SNMP access to your device, then it's not the lack of a template.

Did you enable SNMP on the device?
Is there any firewall between your Cacti install and the device?
On the Ciscos, do you have an ACL defined for SNMP access, and if you do is the Cacti server in it?

You should have something like:

Code: Select all

! define ACL 6 to limit access to SNMP to only the Cacti server
access-list 6 permit 172.16.4.5
access-list 6 deny any
access-list 6 remark snmp-ro
! define a read-only community (RO) accessible only from ACL 6
snmp-server community ddfsfnnene RO 6
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

Without sounding a bit dumb (and possibly condescending), did you enable SNMP access on this particular interface ?
Cacti Version 0.8.8b
Cacti OS Ubuntu LTS
RRDTool Version RRDTool 1.4.7
Poller Information
Type SPINE 0.8.8b
