I don't know how to do this

Post by forsaken »

Hi everyone.

I currently have cacti 0.8.6j setup to monitor some cisco switches & routers (interface statistics mainly) - i'm a novice with cacti, and that's about the best I could do heh.

Anyway, a user had the following graph requirements:

=========

1. Graph showing Bandwidth consumed on VLAN X and VLAN Y

>>>> My note: VLAN Lives on different switches

2. Unused bandwidth available on VLAN X and VLAN Y

>>>> My note: I am guessing 1 & 2 can be some form of stacked graph

3. The ability to see which switch and port are taking up the majority of the bandwidth on VLAN X and VLAN Y

4. Traffic report (traffic in and traffic out)

>>>> My note: Assume this means total traffic on each switch itself

5. Throughput

========

I thought about trying the "Reportit" plugin, however, when I installed cacti, I didn't know about the "plugin architecture" and am unable to install the plugin architecture after cacti has been installed (according to the docs) so that appears to be out.

I am, quite simply, overwhelmed by this request, and unable to figure out how to do this. can anyone help?

Thanks

You can install PIA after Cacti has been installed/configured. Just copy the files out of the files-.087a directory into your cacti root directory.

Good to know, I will give that a shot.

I don't know if ReportIt will give me what I need, but at least I'll be able to install plugin's :-)

Thanks
