SNMP Error

Post by EBrander »

I have a new install:

Windows 2000 Professional SP4

Cacti 0.8.5
MySQL 4.0.18
PHP 4.3.4
IIS 5
ActivePerl 5.8.3.809

Upon creating a device (A Cisco 4006 that I'm currently successfully polling with MRTG), and adding "SNMP - Interface Statistices" as an associated data query, I get an SNMP error. Also, when I click "Verbose Query" under that query, I get the following information:
+ Running data query [1].
+ Found type = '3' [snmp query].
+ Found data query XML file at 'c:\cacti/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml'
+ XML file parsed ok.
+ Executing SNMP walk for list of indexes @ '.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.1'
+ No SNMP data returned
I've tried both SNMP version 1 and 2, but 2 is desirable as I wish to monitor the gigabit ethernet ports on that switch.

I'm able to walk that OID without any trouble using SNMPWALK from the command prompt.

Might anyone point me in the right direction? Your assistance is sincerely appreciated.

Regards,

I have the problem with Win XP that a device's SNMP is allright and I get results for interface statistics, but processor gives no results. I have installed SNMP4WK2 on the to be polled windows host so this should be working.

Code: Select all

+ Running data query [9].
+ Unknown type = ''

I don't quite understand, and I'm not certain this applies as I'm not trying to monitor a workstation. I'm trying to monitor a Cisco switch that I can already monitor with MRTG and I also do an SNMPWalk without any problems.

Are you suggesting that I need SNMP4WK2 on the PC that is running and polling with Cacti? I thought that software was only needed if I wanted to monitor a Windows computer with SNMP.

no, snmp4wk is only for the to be monitored host, so in your case with a switch you don't need it.

But I was not replying to your question. :D
I was telling that I have the same problem.

*EDIT* never mind, the problem was in my database. I recreated the script leaving the linux stuff out and I faultly deleted something. I saw that raX posted the new database lay-out. I had the 0.8.2 version. Now it's going to be a lot easier :)

But I wonder why there aren't any reference key's. Then this could never have happened because he would have given an error referencing a non existing record. Or am I too Microsoft minded, because before I always used SQL-server. Mysql even hasn't triggers, intersects... :x
