Graph Titles

Post by msw1970 »

Hi

I changed the Interface - Traffic (bits/sec) graph template and changed the title field to |host_description| - Traffic - |query_ifName| - |query_ifAlias| and then used the reapply suggested names in Graph Management to change the title. All worked fine. I've now decided to remove this and add the ifAlias as a comment in the graph template instead.

However, when I remve the |query_ifAlias| from the title and reapply suggested names it doesn't remove it from the Graphs....

Any ideas how I can remove it without having to edit around 600 graphs manually???

In general, it is not recommended to change the Title of the Graph Template for Data Queries.
Instead, please select the correct graph template from the Data Query itself and change the "Suggested Values" Section. You may change the sequence of entries, re-apply and that's it. To make this work (again), the Graph Template itself must have Use Per-Graph Value (Ignore this Value) checked for the Graph Title

Sure. Uncheck the checkbox next to the "Title" field in that very Graph Template. From now on, you will see the "Title" as an edit field when visiting Graphs at Graph Management.

But, graphs are dissapear. :(

Hmm...

Please check my steps:
(it's only example)

Cacti is empty.

1. Create device - my_cat (Cisco Catalyst 2960).
2. Click on Create graphs for this host.
3. Select 2-3 interfaces, choose graph templete Interface Traffic (bits/sec).
4. Go to Graph Management. And change title to Loc 1 - Loc 2.
5. Graph dissappears. :)

But, strange is in empty Data Sources.
And when i rename graph, i have only None in dropdown. It's ok?

I have solved this problem. But not sure that all other will works right.
Now i can change graph titles without any problems :)

graphs.php

Code: Select all

comment line 214:
#               $input_list = db_fetch_assoc("select id,column_name from graph_template_input...

comment line 216:
                #if (sizeof($input_list) > 0) {

comment line 238:
                #}
Developers, please, see if this bug or else. My situation described in this topic. Thanks.

PS Cacti 0.8.7b

Sorry, I'm not able to reproduce.
Are you able to provide more details how you managed to get this problem? When editing a graph title, nothing unusual happens for me. Did you change anything in the graph template prior to those steps?

I have a very similar problem except I don't want to change the fields in the title, just get Cacti to re-read them from the Cisco switch since they have changed on the switch. I have verified they did change on the switch using snmpget. How do I get Cacti to re-read the title fields from the switch? It's the ifAlias that has changed but it's not changing on my graphs.

Thos is done by "Re-Indexing"
Standard re-index method is "uptime goes backwards", in other words "reboot"
You may use "Index Count Changed" or "Verify all Fields" instead.
To change this for existing queries, please delete the Data Query from that host and re-attach it using the correct re-index method. This will NOT loose your graphs!
