[SOLVED] Cacti not functioning...

Post by Andrew Borem »

I am sort of a newbie. Here is my info:
Operating System: XP Professional (SP2)
Webserver: Apache 2.0.61
Cacti: 0.8.6a
Cactid: 0.8.6b
MySQL: 5
PHP: 5.2.5
RRDTool (Cygwin or Win32 version): 1.2.15
Net-SNMP: not using until I get cacti working
Cygwin (cygwin1.dll version): Not using.

Okay, I have a couple of questions/problems.

Firstly, I am unsure where I should unzip RRDTool and Cactid to. It says C:\cacti in the guide, but do you mean the cacti webroot or a new directory?

Secondly, I have followed the guide to a T, and spent a lot of time trouble shooting, and I just cannot get anything to show up when I go to http://127.0.0.1/cacti/. It's just a blank page. No errors or notifications. Just... Nothing.

I have spent about a day working on this, so any and all help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks so much! :)

Maybe it would be an alternative for you to use the Windows Beta Installer.
Okay, it requires the IIS instead of the Apache, but it takes only 10 minutes to get a new Cacti system running.

I have thought about giving that a shot. The reason I am hesitant to use that is because I am mainly just learning here. I am not required to get Cacti up and running by my bosses, I just want to learn how. I want to use apache and handle this stuff on my own because I want understanding of how it works.

Thank you very much for the suggestion, though. :)

You're really using Cacti: 0.8.6a?! :o Time to upgrade dude! Cacti 0.8.7a is the latest.

Follow the installation guide in my signature.

Haha. Updated and running. All I had to do was restart the computer! Sorry about that, guys. :)
