Graph totals wrong

Post by milestone »

Hi All,

I have a big Problem with the calculated totals on our In/Out Graphs. As you can see on the attached Screenshot. The monthly total is wrong from the yearly total. In that, the yearly is less than monthly by a lot.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Kind regards

This is due to rrdtool consolidating data. Read in the documentation site how this works and what you can do to prevent it.

no, the sum function is wrong

Post by milestone »

Hi,

thx for the reply, but what i am saying, the sum function seems to be wrong. because if i do a re-calculation of the average sample...

See the above graph: The Monthly average is 26,93 MBit/s

so to see what the amount of data that was transferred is i am doing
26,93*86400*30/(1024*1024) (count the seconds up to a day and then times day in a month)
that gives me app. 66,57 TB in Total but the graph says the total is 43,27 TB. In my graph_template i have defined the Total as |sum:auto:current:2:auto|

For the yearly graph i am doing
27,32*86400*30*12/(1024*1024) that leaves me with app. 810 TB but the function calculates 22,55 TB

Is my calculation terribly wrong?

I have configured the datasource to be updated every minute.

I have written a proof of concept script, which sums up all the data within the given .rrd file and calculates the sum, and it calculates the correct values. I have dumped the rrd file with rrdtool dump <.rrdfile>

Any help is highly appreciated.

so far no contact. Could it be that this is a variable data type problem? Like it uses an integer to hold the sum but it has a too low maximum value?

Kind regards
