Post by mcutting »

Has anyone noticed that the HOST UP and HOST DOWN emails no longer seem to work for THOLD 0.3.8 ?

Hi,
i am using thold 0.3.8 too. And on my system UP and DOWN emails works fine.
You activated the checkbox "Dead Hosts Notifications"?
Do you have a logentry in your cactilog?
Poller user is allowed to send emails?
Weekend Exeptions and wrong system time/date?

try to send the mail to local systemuseraccount. for example cactiuser.
perhaps its a problem with the mailserver.....

I can send a test alert message - this works fine. THOLD emails also work fine, so this doesn't seem to be the issue.

Dead Host notifications is ticked
No Weekend Exceptions
System time is correct
Entry in the CACTI log file indicates that HOST is down
MONITOR plugin shows the host as down

No change here. I tried using cmd.php as the poller, but this doesn't make any difference. I get THOLD alerts for breaches, but nothing for host up and host down, despite entries in the log informing me of this.

Test alert emails also appear to work fine....

Can you post your downloaded version of THOLD ? I'd like to compare it to the version I have.

Thanks

Not sure if this is relevant or not, but I see the following in the log when the downed host returns :

12/19/2007 12:34:06 PM - SPINE: Poller[0] Host[127] Hostnanme[xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] NOTICE: HOST EVENT: Host Returned from DOWN State

Note that "Hostname" appears to be mis-spelled. I am wondering if this has any bearing on the issue, or is just a plain text typo. Even though the event is being placed in the log, I still do not get any email.

SOLVED: Turns out that it was the REPORTS plugin causing the problems. As soon as I disabled this, THOLD started to work again, sending emails when hosts are down etc etc.

I managed to resolve the issue by re-enabling the plugin, but placing it at the botton of the plugins array list in global.php

Perhaps this is of some use to someone else.
