Greetings, all. I had some trouble with Cacti and cactid, and after I got things working again I noticed that I no longer had any historical data. I did re-install Cacti, but I believed at that time that all the 'important stuff' was within MySQL somewhere (after reading some other posts, it appears that I was mistaken). Is all my old historical data lost forever? Is there a patch/hack/config one could use to make said data more robust?
Cheers,

The MySQL database is used for storing cacti/device settings/templates/etc. All data that is recorded during polling is stored in the rrd files.

Re: retrieve historical data
The patch is to backup rrd files and mysqldump the cacti database.omega655 wrote:Is there a patch/hack/config one could use to make said data more robust?
Reinhard
Never mind
I tried a perl script to merge the files (rrd-merger), but XML::Twig wouldn't install (a pre-req). Ended up just stopping the cron job and moving all the backup files into the rra directory.
Thanks anyway, all.
