upgrading from 0.8.6h to 0.8.7a

Post by gsaray101 »

I need to upgrade my current cacti version from 0.8.6h to 0.8.7a. Can I just download version 0.8.7a and do the steps outlined in http://www.cacti.net/downloads/docs/html/upgrade.html?
Or do I have to apply some patches? if yes which ones?

Thanks,

Mike

Just follow that guide. once 0.8.7a is installed, then check for any additional patches that need to be installed.

what about custom data input methods? I have many input methods that are not snmp based. They are perl based. How do I deal with custom scripts with the upgrade?

Simply copy your scripts to the scripts folder. This assumes, that your data input methods already refer to e.g. /full/path/to/perl <path_cacti>/scripts/your-script.pl

I'll be doing this as well...using mysql, php, and apache right...will they need to be upgraded as well? Is there a minimum version that I need to run in order to run 0.8.7a?
I can't find any 'minimum requirements' so I assume it should work fine.

All of this because I can't find the THOLD plugin for 0.8.6j.

The minimum requirements haven't changed. Ideally, you're using mysql 5.x, php 5.x and apache 2.x, but older versions still work.

I recently upgraded from 0.8.6j to 0.8.7a. Follow the upgrade guide and it'll be smooth.

As for requirements, it decreased the load average on my Cacti host significantly.
