RRD Files not Being Created

Post by Illindar »

I could use a hand with a recent upgrade.

I upgraded to the new 0.8.7 version of cacti and now it seems that rrd files are not created when I add a new graph. All of the existing rrd files update fine. No issues with NaN's. Just no new rrd files are created. I've increased the logging to debug mode but I don't see any errors when I create new graphs.

Permissions are correct, polling seems to run ok, and like I said, updates are occuring to graphs that existed before the upgrade.

Here is an example of the graph debug information:
RRDTool Command:

/usr/bin/rrdtool graph - \
--imgformat=PNG \
--start=-86400 \
--end=-300 \
--title="bh58-0150048.pa-philadel-wm.mn.earthlink.net - Availability - ICMP" \
--base=1000 \
--height=120 \
--width=500 \
--upper-limit=5 \
--lower-limit=0 \
--vertical-label="Replies Received (5 Sent)" \
DEF:a="/var/www/html/cacti/rra/bh58-0150048_pa-philadel-wm_mn_earthlink_net_ping_rx_23806.rrd":ping_rx:LAST \
DEF:b="/var/www/html/cacti/rra/bh58-0150048_pa-philadel-wm_mn_earthlink_net_ping_rx_23806.rrd":ping_rx:AVERAGE \
AREA:a#96E78A:"ICMP Echo Replies Received from 5 Pings Sent on Last Test\n" \
COMMENT:"\n" \
COMMENT:"Note: 0 (zero) values are not necessarily 'missed' data points.\n" \
COMMENT:"Prior to running the script that issues the '5-Ping' poll,\n" \
COMMENT:"Cacti 'tests' the status of a given target via ICMP Ping.\n" \
COMMENT:"If the 'test' fails, then this '5-Ping' poll is not performed,\n" \
COMMENT:"which appears as a 'missed' poll in the raw data."

RRDTool Says:

ERROR: opening '/var/www/html/cacti/rra/bh58-0150048_pa-philadel-wm_mn_earthlink_net_ping_rx_23806.rrd': No such file or directory

What is the status of the failing host?
What, if creating new graphs for a host that was already available before and old graphs are fine?

All of them are up (well, not all my hosts but the one's I am testing with are).

It's not a downed host issue. I've even disabled downed host detection, but that had no effect (it's now set back to SNMP Only).

The pre-upgrade graphs are collecting data. It's just the post ones that are not. I've tried rebuilding a host. None of the graphs collect anymore for that host.

Are you still running cactid? In this case, please immediately upgrade to spine. Cactid is no longer supported for 0.8.7 (consider spine as cactid-0.8.7).
