Update: I've search-and-replaced the "hash tags" in the xml files to (more or less ) sensible names. Now I don't get any error messages but there won't show up any new items in the graph menu or the like either

@iYRe: I'm not particulary fond of "deceiving" my distro's package management system, but will keep the option of updating in mind as some kind of last resort.

I too use debian (and ubuntu) for our production servers. There are just some softwares that its best to be using a non-packaged version for, in order that you get the latest updates. For example, cacti is 0.87 now, which makes 0.86i at least 2 versions (and a lot of bug fixes, security updates, and feature enhancements) old now.

I try and keep as many packages as possible, but this is one I prefer to have manual control of. I certainly dont want some package updating and breaking my install as I rely on cacti, and it has happened before.

Just something to think about anyway, its up to you how you prefer to do it.

I just installed this Addon also and i am getting the following errors:

Both of you: did you install the "exec" command line into the exim server's snmpd.conf and restart that snmpd?

Instead of exec i have used extend (see line 141)

Neither of them work.

EXEC works for net-snmp pre-5.4 only aned extend for 5.4 and later. I don't know the syntax of extend by heart

It seems i am runnint net-snmp 5.2.3
It is installed from Debian APT-sources.

So i have to switch back to exec, or i have to upgrade my snmpd.
For the moment i think i switch back to exec. And first get the script working before i start upgrading.

I've been having issues getting even the snmpd part working.

Atm the moment I got it like this:

Seems like it's unable to open the log file (which is what line 91 does).
But I'm unsure, changing permission doesn't affect this.
