THOLD 0.3.5.2 Alerting Problem

Post by mcutting »

I have recently upgraded to THOLD 0.3.5.2, and have the SETTINGS plugin installed also. I get alerts for dead host notifications, recovery, and host returning from downstate.

However, I do not seem to get any alerts for hosts going over thresholds, or returning back to normal....

I am using PA 1.1, THOLD 0.3.5.2, and SETTINGS 0.2

Any ideas ?

A development:

The global alerts do not seem to work. If you look at the data source for the THOLD item, the global alerts are not being populated properly. I added an additional email address for this particular source, and got the alert first time in my email.

Either this is a bug, or there is something wrong in my THOLD setup. I have checked, and all the tables as defined in the .sql file are present.

Cigamit - can you comment ?

Thanks

Hey guys, I was having the same problem. Same blank notification list too. What I noticed was that there is an email field now in the User Management section. If you put an email address in there then they are added to the default notification list. The strange thing is that if you edit the account again after putting an email address in the field is blank. Strange. But I thought I'd pass it along.

Interesting - does the email address stay in the global alerts list, and does it work without having to specify email addresses for every threshold ?

Fixed a bit ago, just waiting for 0.8.7 to come out to push the new release, as it now requires the currently unreleased PA.

Thanks Jimmy,

Does the previously unreleased PA for 0.8.7 work with 0.8.6j ?

Cigamit - this problem is still evident (well, on my system anyway) under Cacti 0.8.7 Beta 4, and the PIA that goes with it. I get the initial alert, but subsequent alerts are never sent. Also, the email address in the user management section is still blank after entering it, then going back into the user's account again.

Any ideas, or is there a yet to be released PIA that repairs this ?

Thanks

Yes, thold v3.6 will be released with 0.8.7 which fixes this since it requires the newest PA that will be released with 0.8.7 I have not released it yet.

I have also released updated versions of my plugins which require changes to work with Cacti 0.8.7. They are all now backwards compatible except in the case of thold, which requires Cacti 0.8.7 (required new hooks)
