Summation in a report

Post by jkukis »

I've searched around and found a lot of info on summation using CDEF's for graphs.

I'm looking to generate a report using the reportit plugin , that just gives me the summation of a number of interfaces for both in and out. Is there a way that the reportit plugin can do this automatically for me?
IE. I tell it i want X,Y,Z datasources to be used and it just outputs one value in the report. I don't need the actual graphs, just the report in CSV output.

If not, what is my best way to approach this problem?

I believe that in the next version of reportit they will have the feature you are looking for. I am not sure it can only report on a limited number of data sources. I believe it will report on all datasources that you have configured.

The current version allows to sum different data sources of one data item by using interim results. If you have a measurand called "AVG" with "f_avg*8" as formula e.g., then you can create another one that sums the average of traffic_in and traffic_out for every interface automatically by using "AVG:traffic_in+AVG:traffic_out".
But it isn't possible to sum the average of interface A, interface B and so on.

OK,
If I don't want to worry about the summation, is there any way to have the amount of data transferred every 5 minutes all in one csv file?

So cacti runs every 5 minutes,
Time Traf_in Traf_out
00:05 50MB 20MB
00:10 5MB 15MB

Anyway to do this? Its basically taking the information that the graph gives you , but I need it in one CSV file.

I think i stumbled upon the answer through some searching online.

RRDtool comes with a tool called xport, which reads in a rrd file and will output an xml file with the data from the rrd. It also lets you use CDEFS(So i can define multiple data sources and add them together).
Here is a link in case anyones interested:
http://oss.oetiker.ch/rrdtool/doc/rrdxport.en.html

Might be cool to see this added as a cacti plugin with a gui, to allow people to export their data in XML.

If I remember correctly it's called "dataquery plugin".
