Different polling interval for different services

Post by M.F.L. »

Hello everybody!

I installed and configured cacti in order to monitor the cpu load and the load and errors on switches and their interfaces.
It works very good so far, but it seems like the process of checking the interface values makes the cpu load go very high. (Which is totally plausibe to me, since it checks for four values on every interface.)
The problem is that the cpu load is adulterated by this and everytime cacti polls for the cpu load it gets an unusal high value.

Is there a possibility to poll every 6 minutes for the cpu load while the interfaces get checked every 5 minutes? Or is it even possible to shift the two polls So cacti will check both parts, but the cpu 2 minutes later or earlier?
I did not find anything for that in cacti.

Greetings and thanks for your help
Marcus

My system is a Suse Linux 10.2 and cacti version 0.8.6j.
