new feature request

Post by integr8er »

Hi,
Running 15 or more individual cacti web sites. Each has there own rra and log directory. I do this for organizational AND scalability reasons. Even if the scalability issues were resolved in cacti so it would paralelize data collection, I would still want to make multiple web sites - just noting this for you :-).

1) I would like to see some cacti settings that allow the specification of the directory used for the RRA files. Keeping them inside the cacti application directory structure is much too Windozish and hard to manage.

2) I change the include/top_header.php and include/top_graph_header.php scripts to specify the $database_default being displayed to the browser titlebar. This way when I have many web browsers open to each cacti instance, the icon title (on windows anyway) shows the sitename (whcih is the database name in my case). Currently by default - each cacti instance just says "cacti" in the browser title bar.
<title>cacti</title>
<title><? print $database_default; ?></title>

All in All - Cacti - is excellent!!!

Yeah, allowing the user to put the 'rra' directory anywhere would be an easy addition. Right now you can change this in 'include/config.php', but that is by no means easy.

The current database in the title bar could be useful, but not for most cacti users. Maybe I will make the title bar text more information in the future though.

Title bar customization

Post by Brian Blood »

Well, 3.5 years later, I'm seconding the request for be able to customize the title bar in the interface.

We run cacti for different clients and it's nice to see which one is which (especially in this day and age of tabbed browsing)
