Percent Error?

Post by skt »

I have the graphs displaying now. However there appears to be a error reporting the correct %. I have a T1 using 325k and the % is showing .33% used. I have the |query_IfSpeed| set to 1576. Any ideas?

Cannot change Maximum value

Post by Guest »

Hi,

I applied all the instructions in order to have percentage in my graphs, and it works well except one thing.

I am monitoring DSL line with asymetric bandwith. To have the percentage corresponding to upload and download, I have to modify the "maximum value" for "Data Source Item Fields" in the "Data source" for my graph.

I can modify it for "traffic_in", but i cannot for "traffic_out". When I save, it does not keep the change. I checked the data template and the case "Use Per-Data Source Value" under "Maximum value" is checked for traffic_in and traffic_out.

Does somebody ever encountered this problem ?

I actually did have that problem a while ago and I figured out the problem. RaX has a patch somewhere. Just ask him for it.

Hi Bisonlux,
İf you remember you helped me about percentage about utilization.
Thank you very much for your assistances.
But I have a problem. As you remember , Inbound and outbound percentages are the same because of the rrdtool.Right?
My rrdtool version was 1.0.35 ( cacti 0.8.4) and percentage did not work properly. I mean, both Inbound and Outbound utilization percentage are the same.
But I try another version rrdtool (1.0.46) and Cacti 0.8.5 everyting is ok. Inbound and outbound utilization percentages are different
Then, I
Upgrade my cacti 0.8.4 to 0.8.5 and rrdtool 1.0.35 to 1.0.46.
Problem still occur but after upgrade, I create new grap, new interface, percentages are different.
Question is:
How can I tune my old rrd files that created with 1.0.35 to show percentages correct?
You can understand better after look at the my graphs
Than you..

Hi TFC,

As I said in the past, Cacti 0.8.4 was buggy and not the rrd tool. It seems that the new version corrects this problem (I have never tested it).

An rrd file only contains one ore more archives with values (rrdtool determine only the max, min, average and last of a series of values and store the result in an archive). Percentages are not stored in the rrd file. To calculate this, the CDEF is used.

So in your case when make an update from 0.8.4 to 0.8.5 (new php files) the MySQL database is not touched. So old and buggy information are still stored in the database. Maybe recreating your graph templates, graph, CDEF … can help (no need to recreate your rrd files.

Bye,
