Graphs not working - new install

Post by edgonz »

Hello everyone!

First time Cacti user, running it on Fedora 6. The installation seems to be running properly; I worked out some minor issues. So far I have 3 nodes, and it seems as nothing is being collected because the graphs do not show any plotted data.

Looking at Cacti's log, I found this:

Code: Select all

09/25/2007 09:41:12 AM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] Host[3] DS[362] WARNING: Result from SNMP not valid. Partial Result: No Such Instance cur
09/25/2007 09:41:12 AM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] Host[3] DS[361] WARNING: Result from SNMP not valid. Partial Result: No Such Instance cur
I ran a quick search on the forums, and I found another thread similar to mine, but I found no resolution on that thread.

This is what's running under root's crontab:
*/5 * * * * cactiuser /usr/bin/php /var/www/html/cacti/poller.php > /dev/null 2>&1

One question though, /var/www/html/cacti/ I manually created cacti folder and gave cactiuser read/write permissions to it, but the poller.php ... do I need to copy that file to that path?

Ok, here's a screenshot of what I'm experiencing.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Thanks for the link; I read the suggestions and I ran across something interesting..

crontab command line is setup under root's crontab and it runs as cactiuser user.

Code: Select all

*/5 * * * * cactiuser /usr/bin/php /usr/share/cacti/poller.php > /dev/null 2>&1
I've doubled checked the path for php binary and yest, it resides on /usr/bin
Also, I realized that the path to poller.php was wrong, so I fixed the path to point to /user/share/cacti

Originally, I installed Cacti from a RPM package, so it was automatically installed in that path.

I ran poller.php as cactiuser and here's the output:

Code: Select all

/usr/bin/php /usr/share/cacti/poller.php
PHP Warning: require_once(db.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /usr/share/cacti/include/config.php on line 26
PHP Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required 'db.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear:/usr/share/php') in /usr/share/cacti/include/config.php on line 26

My question is, do I have to give 'write/execute' permissions to cactiuser to the entire path where cacti files reside?

Ok, I'm able to run /usr/bin/php /usr/share/cacti/poller.php as cactiuser without any error messages.
This is what I get whenever I run the above line:

Code: Select all

OK u:0.17 s:0.38 r:10.77
OK u:0.17 s:0.38 r:10.77

Still nothing in my graphs...am I missing something else?
