Missing Graphs

Post by turlockaviator »

This problem has been plaguing me for some time now, mostly when using the Firefox Browser in Windows. When rolling over the device or link in the map, the associated graph is missing (just a popup with a small red x).

Seems to be related to the Cacti User being logged in or out (this was mentioned in some previous postings).

In Internet Explorer, the answer for me has been to log out of Cacti (yes, I may already be logged out but it appears I'm still logged in on my end), CLOSE the browser window, then open a new IE session and login to Cacti. Doing this clears up the problem.

Unfortunately, in Firefox this doesn't work and I've not found a workaround.

From a client standpoint, I'm on a Windows XP machine using the latest Firefox (2.0.0.7) and Internet Explorer version 6 (it's actually 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_qfe.070227-2300).

Not sure what direction to take in resolving this. Wondering if anyone has any ideas?

Thanks in advance for the suggestions..

Best Regards,
Chris

Of course it's related to the Cacti user being logged in or out - it's still Cacti supplying the graphs! :-)

If you don't want this to happen you need to enable guest access to those graphs in Cacti, or use Cacti's export graph feature, and change your OVERLIBGRAPH lines to use those exported PNGs rather than the graph_image.php that it would normally use.

Where are you viewing the weathermaps from, if not from within Cacti? The alternative fix is to disable guest access to View Weathermaps (in the User Admin of Cacti), so that you have to log in to vew the map, so you'll never run into this problem.
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.

Missing Graphs

Thanks Howie...
The way I have my Cacti setup, I've completely removed the guest account and the other users I have MUST login with a password. It just seems odd that this problem seems more prevalent using Firefox instead of IE. I rarely have the problem in IE. But in Firefox, even if I just logged into Cacti and then selected the Network Weathermap tab, I don't get the graphs. And this is using the same user account.

I'll see about guest access to the graphs. Guess I'll have to recreate my guest account in Cacti.

As always, thanks much for the help.

Hmm. OK, maybe there is more to it than that then... if you are logging in to see the Weathermap, then you should be fine.

Not sure where to go to debug this though. Only wierd things like having cookies disabled, but then Cacti logins would fail altogether, as far as I know.

No clue

Hmm, this is distressing. Now I'm seeing the same issue in Internet Explorer. I'm logged in as Admin, which has never had a problem with the rollover graphs before unless I remained inactive for a lengthy period of time. Now I'm not getting the graphs when I rollover the devices or the links in IE either. Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm going to try another workstation just to make sure it's not something specific to my machine.

Thanks in Advance...
