Default templates

Post by rhaskins »

After importing a bad template, I had to delete the traffic templates. Needless to say, after adding a new host I don't get traffic graphs any longer.

Is there any way to re-import the default graph templates that come with a default Cacti installation? I've searched the forums and the Cacti site to no avail.

Thanks!

Error when importing bits per second

Post by rhaskins »

I tried to import the bits per second template, and I got this:

"Error: XML: Hash version does not exist."

Any ideas?

Sorry - these were exported from 0.8.6j - an earlier version won't allow you to import them.

I neglected to mention that I am running Cacti 0.8.6h.

Sorry - I can't help, unless you fancy an upgrade to 0.8.6j, which would enable you to use the templates...

OK, I upgraded to version j, imported your templates (thanks!!) and its still not working. This is what I see for those graphs under "graph management" for the host I'm trying to add:

swordfish.shentel.net - Traffic - |query_ifDescr|/|query_ifIndex| None 0x0
swordfish.shentel.net - Traffic - |query_ifIP| (|query_ifDescr|) None 0x0
swordfish.shentel.net - Traffic - |query_ifIP| (|query_ifDescr|) None 0x0
swordfish.shentel.net - Traffic - |query_ifIP| (|query_ifDescr|) None 0x0

Thanks for your help!

Do these come up in Cacti as Associated Data queries, or are they graphs that you are adding manually ?

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "Associated Data queries", but I'm creating these graphs by going to "console==>devices==>(device)==>Create Graphs For This Host" and then clicking the check boxes for the graphs I want under "Data Query [SNMP - Interface Statistics]" section. It seems that the graphs are not being created, because if I go back in immediately after creating the graphs, it allows me to create them again.

Thanks for your help!

So am I to assume that my only option is to re-install cacti to get the default templates back? It seems like there should be a way to re-import the default templates if you break them and cannot figure out how to fix them.

Sorry - just got round to reading this post. Sounds like the data templates didn't get copied when I exported them. Give me a bump tomorrow, and I will post these.

So I finally got a chance to put up cacti-0.8.6j on another box here and export/import all of the templates to no avail, again.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can get the templates restored short of blowing away my installation and re-doing it, which would cause me to lose 12+ months of graph history?

I figured it out

So the data query template for SNMP interface stats got messed up. After importing the "cacti_data_query_snmp_interface_statistics.xml" query template, all works as advertised.
