Graph Order Customization

Post by loorimar »

Hi all,

I've been tearing my (remaining) hair out trying to figure out how to re-order graphs. When they are displayed they always seem to be in alphabetical order. What I am trying to do is to customize the order in which they are shown so I can see traffic stats first, then errors for example, which right now are reversed.

Thanks

Three options to be set on the header item of such items:
- numerical
- alphabetical
- manual sort order

Please visit Graph Trees. Select the header tree item that's "above" those you want to have sorted. Find the field "Sorting Type" and change it to your likings

Sorry, I guess I was not specific enough.
What I am looking for is the following:

When clicking on a particular device in the tree I get the
window with all the graphs, CPU utilization, interface errors, interface traffic statistics, etc.
Those are sorted alphabetically. However I would like to have the interface traffic show first, then errors, and CPU last. Is this possible?

Thanks

Ok, you're talking about sort order of a host entry in a tree, right?
There's no sorting for that type of tree items ATM

Hello,

I've been having the same problem as described above : I found no way to order the graphs by ifNumber, for example. After "if1" comes "if10" and then "if100", etc., which is weird in the case of a switch.

Do you plan to add numerical ordering in upcoming releases ?

Thanks,
Julien.

IMHO, there's a fix for this. From CHANGELOG
-bug#0000907: Sorting of data sources when interface numbers are used without leading zeros are incorrectly sorted

My sorting is also wrong.
I have added only hosts, not interfaces to the tree, as of:
Switches
--Host:switch1
--Host:switch2
.
.

So when I click one host, I see all graphs for that host, but the interfaces are sorted "Fa0/1, Fa0/10, Fa0/11,...,Fa0/2) and so on. Is there some way to change this? I have changed sorting order under Graph Trees, but it only seems to apply to the sorting of the actual hosts in the tree.

As said above. This bug is fixed with 0.8.7, currently beta 1: http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=23161

Ah, ok. I didn't understand that that changelog was for 0.8.7. Thanks.

Not sure if anyone is watching this thread any longer, but I found it while I was searching for a solution, so maybe others will too.

In any case, graphs are ordered on each host page by the name of the Graph Template. So all you have to do is go to Graph Templates in the Console and change the names of the templates. I set a preferred order by putting an "A", "B", "C", etc. at the front of the template names.

I think you meant that they are ordered by the name of the Graph Title.
When i change the Title of the Graph, then it will change the order of appearance.

EDIT: Just saw that it is first sorted by template name and within template it is sorted by Graph Title. So you were right.

I wonder another topic about sorting.
I have a tree and my tree Item type is host
Under host in view page. I see first CPU and MEM graphics. Then Interface traffic.
Question is:
How can I change order of this gtaphics. I mean, I want to see first network traffics. and at the bottom, CPU and MEM graphs.
Is there any way?
Thnx.
