data is in rra directory but no graphs

Post by etc »

I have the SNMP connection and the data in /var/www/html/cacti/rra directory, all the .rrd files, but nothing shows up in the actual graph.
Why is that?

The host is a hp-ux 11.23 machine.
Cact is on Linux with kernel 2.6.9

The curious thing is, I have an identical hp-ux host that does work.

Went through it to no avail. That seems to be a really common error looking on this forum.

I turned on the debug mode and looking at the command, I get this. Still no graph

come to think of it, the rrd file is constructed wrong, it's of size 47840 bytes but nothing in it, versus a working file. That would explain a blank graph. Why is that?

# strings ac2_hpux_avgjobs15_903.rrd |more

hpux_AvgJobs15

Here we go. Why does the graph show up blank? Is there something wrong with this file?

What does this error mean?

#: snmpget -c default -v 2c ac2 11.2.3.1.1.12.0
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.11.2.3.1.1.12.0 = No Such Object available on this agent at this OID

It says, that the target does not respond to your request. Either
- snmp version is wrong
- community string is wrong
- the target does not support that specific OID

The problem was, an SNMP sub-agent was not running.

So it was a tricky problem.

Got this error again.

It turns out that SNMP that comes with HPUX is not sufficient, you have to install NET-SNMP. That fixed it.
