First of all, hi all and thanks for supporting such a good tool.
I've been using it for several years under Win32 but since cacti, and all the accompanying stuff are linux-based-things, I have had always headaches everytime I needed to touch/define/programm anything.
Now I'm thinking about running a virtual server with a linux distribution on one of our real-hardware servers and I'd like to hear the cacti community about their own linux distributions. I'd like to use the simpliest/easiest linux distribution to run cacti (only cacti... well apache, php, etc.. will be needed also). The server will not be exposed to the internet so security, automatic patching updates, etc., though important, is not the key point. Since I am a Win32 user, easy administration of the server IS important.
Any recomendation? Thanks in advance.
Recommended linux distribution to run cacti?

You will ove the CactiEZ CD. It's a complete CentOS based cacti distribution with everything set up for an immediate start.
ATTENTION! It will PARTITION your primary hard disk! Use it on a dedicated system or as a VM Guest. Find it at http://cactiusers.org

Yes,
i think really the easiest way for you ist CactiEZ CD like gandalf said.
On the other hand just use the distribution which you like. I think cacti is so
flexible thats it's up to your own.
About myself: I'm using debian, because it's since years my favorite distribution. So it's your decision !
Kind regards,
sebastian
