I'm having a bit of an issue w/ Beta2. Some background info first. The server is a new CentOS 5 install, PHP 5.2.3, MySQL - 5.0.45, RRDTool - 1.2.23 , Net-SNMP - 5.4.1, Apache 2.2.3.

The install went fine until I got to the part where it wanted me to specify paths for everything (snmpwalk, php, etc...) I gave it the correct paths but it continued to say, "[ERROR: FILE NOT FOUND]." It let me continue with the install, I figured I would fix it later. I confirmed that the Cacti user I created was able to read and execute the needed binaries. Cacti continued to give the same error message. For fun I created a directory (owned by the cactiuser) and copied all the binaries there, then pointed cacti towards the "new" binaries. Now cacti seem to like the new paths, gives "[OK: FILE FOUND]." What gives?? I've got 3 other Cacti installs in production right now and I've never come across this problem before. It usually finds the binaries right away w/o issue.

If more info is needed please let me know.

This is likely an issue with the "file_exists" function in PHP. Write a little script that does the following:

Code: Select all

<?php echo file_exists("some_good_filename");?>
Access it from the browser, if it comes back "0", you know you have a problem with the file_exists function.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?

I expect to be able to post the new announcement tonight. The Cacti Group wanted to have a conference call first.
