Yes, I have Vista Business installed with dual booting. I didn't have any problems getting SNMP to work. So it must be something you're doing...

Hey,

I am running the exact same setup as djmanou.

Vista Business 64bit w/ NOD32 running.

I am NOT able to get SNMP working what so ever. I will uninstall nod32 and investigate further.

Will post back soon..

No go. I uninstalled NOD32 and still no luck.

I have performed a packet capture on the Vista machine and I can confirm that the system is receiving the SNMP requests from another host, but it is not sending any return traffic.

Please perform the following steps from this url:

We received the following answer from NOD32 and it works for us now:

It sounds like the IMON module is still enabled. Even though you might have unchecked the box, the IMON module still runs in the back ground. Follow the steps below to completely disable the IMON module.

1. From the bottom right corner of your toolbar, click the NOD32 icon. The

I tried the above method and it worked.

In my previous post when I said I uninstalled it, I didnt really. I just removed the service from starting up in 'services', and removed the entry in 'msconfig'. I figured this would do the trick.. apparently not.

Yay SNMP in vista now.. woohoo

On my own, I didn't remove NOD32 (just desactivated all modules) as shubjero.

I'm glad to see there's a solution to that problem.

I'm going to test the method tonight and will give you the result but I expect it would works now.

Above method works for me too. NOD32 was blocking SNMP traffic

SNMP monitoring is active on my vista host.

Thanks for your help

Enabling IMON & Allowing SNMP traffic!

Post by Yoni »

:D Hi all,
I wanted to monitor my Vista system BUT I wanted as well to have my system fully protected with NOD32 2v

I was thinking... logically - I should have the option to leave the IMON turnning on & disabling the check of snmp system service...

For all of you who disabled IMON, please:

- Open your NOD32 GUI
- Open the menu of IMON
- Go to the tab "Miscellaneous"
- Click on the "Edit" button
- Click on the "Add..." button
- Type in the text box: {Drive that contain the OS}:\{Windows path}\system32\snmp.exe

example: C:\windows\system32\snmp.exe

- Click the "OK" button
- Click the "OK" button, again
- Click on the "Start" button
- Close the NOD32 panel properly
- Reboot your system

After that, your NOD32 2v will enable IMON LIVE checking BUT will skip checking traffic of SNMP protocol.

Hope I helped several of you out there, this thread helped me a lot! & I wish I could help you better protect your system.

Yours,
Yoni D.
