SpeedFan : Template
Now that there is a speed fan + snmp addon has anyone made a template / script to pull temp / fan speed using this. I don't want to install motherboard monitor.

Edit: After reading the website, did you fail to see this:
It would appear there's a template in the file already? Did you try it?The extension also comes with template files for Cacti, though nothing prevents it from being used with MRTG and the likes.

Here something not mentioned in the documentation for the SNMP extension. If you're installing on a machine that's in a Domain, you must install it as the Domain Admin, otherwise it will seem as though it's completed successfully, but it actually never installs.
Actually, it didn't even install properly from the MSI as a Domain Admin. To make the MSI function on a Win2k3 Server I had to extract the RAR file to the root of C: on the machine, rename it to sfsnmp and then run the MSI.
The templates do work, if you go into the Graph Template editor and remove the Special Character that's before the C (for Celsius), on the Unit Grid Value line.
I've also had to create a custom Cdef so that it would translate properly into Fahrenheit instead of Celsius. Attached is the CDEF.
I'm going to look into the Fan speed templates next.

Here's graph examples and templates. If you have a machine with more than 2 harddrives, you'll have to manually add those datasources and edit the graph template accordingly.

Thank you so much streaker69
I hope others in the community build off your work.
Reasons to use speedfan + snmp
1) Speed fan is free motherboard monitor is $$
2) Speed fan snmp makes all the OID the same so now monitoring temp on a dell sever with model xxx and model yyy does not matter using this program all the OIDs are the same. (Same applies to HP Compaq etc etc)

I have installed SpeedFan on two different Dell machines, one an Optiplex 320 and the other a PowerEdge 1425, neither one had any useful information in SpeedFan.jokerz wrote: 1) Speed fan is free motherboard monitor is $$

I created these templates off of a Gateway (not sure about model) workstation that happens to be running Win2k3.

A caveat that I'm finding with this software and templates is that while what you said is true that the OID's won't really be different, chances are you're going to have to make a template for each model of machine you're planning on using it.
I installed it on an Industrial Panel PC that I just got in today, and it of course had a lot more information than the machine I based the templates upon.
You can use the templates as a guideline and maybe just make copies of them and then modify for each model machine you're going to use. You'd have to add or subtract data templates based upon what Speedfan is showing for any particular machine.
I'll have a template ready for a machine with multiple fans probably by tomorrow afternoon.

I was unable to do a full SNMPwalk once I added in the custom OID's, they wouldn't show up in the list, but if you manually poll each OID where there's information via Cacti you'll see your data.jokerz wrote:what i am noticing it when install in on AD machines is that the program speed fan i get read outs and temps fine but when i snmpwalk it i get nothing a bit odd. Not sure what the prob is.
