row-level locking

Hi.
On my complaint earlyer i read on mysql.com that there was a bug in version 3.x
This has been fixed in the version 4.0 of mysql.
I have a problem now untill version 4.0 that the update will crash my mysqld and result in blanks on my graphs.

What version(s) of MySQL are affected by this bug? I have not seen what you are talking about first hand, but it does not sound good either way. Anyone else have this problem too?
