Error You have created a new database, but have not yet ....

Post by lcguy229 »

Hello....

I have problem in installing Cati on my FreeBSD 6.1 box.

The error detail is as follows;

=================================

Error

You have created a new database, but have not yet imported the 'cacti.sql' file. At the command line, execute the following to continue:

mysql -u cactiuser -p cacti < cacti.sql

This error may also be generated if the cacti database user does not have correct permissions on the cacti database. Please ensure that the cacti database user has the ability to SELECT, INSERT, DELETE, UPDATE, CREATE, ALTER, DROP, INDEX on the cacti database.
=========================================

I installed cacid from /usr/ports/net-mgmt. I can login to mysql server with username 'caciduser" and password "cacid" from remote machine.

One poor thing is my computer is Pentium II and it have only 64 MB RAM.
Is it because of this low spec?

My system's detail is
FreeBSD 6.1-RELEASE FreeBSD 6.1-RELEASE

I installed the following ports:
php4-4.4.7
php4-mysql-4.4.7
php4-pcre-4.4.7
php4-session-4.4.7
php4-snmp-4.4.7
php4-sockets-4.4.7
php4-xml-4.4.7
mysql-client-4.1.22
mysql-server-4.1.22
cacti-0.8.6j.3_2

Any help is much appreciated.

Hello, the system's configuration may pose a problem, but the ain porblem is that you have created the database but you have not insert the instruction in the database.
If their is no table in the database, you can't do nothing. So you have to follow the instruction :

mysql -u cactiuser -p cacti < cacti.sql

Doing that, you will populate your databse with the templates.
Cacti is based on the database, if it is emplty, it want work.

Hi,

Many thanks for your reply.

I delete the table and recreate again and it works now.

I'd like to hear from you about the "performance" of this system. It's well on the lower side as said already. And I'm wondering, whether MySQL and Apache will do fine with that memory spec
