Problem with Mysql

Hello All

In these days I am facing a very terrible problem which is that in my CentOS mysql is creating problem. When I try to start Mysql it generates the following error message "Mysql dead but subsys lock" I tried different techniques to start mysql but got no result. Can any one have faced this problem.

Make sure, that mysql is not running (verify from process list). Then, delete the sock and/or the pid file
--pid-file=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid --socket=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
and retry

no effect

I tried this but it has no effect. still facing the same problem
