You can currently do this, it would not be something that we code into Cacti directly.

Tony,

This is a common function for many management systems. All Plugins send their e-mail to a queue and then the queue is emptied on a periodic basis, like a mailer plugin.

I kind of like that idea as you can see what was mailed at a glance for auditing purposes. This whole idea is part of the event management design I had proposed to Ian back in 2004.

There are existing Scripts and Templates for e.g. sendmail, postfix and more

So, the answer is, today, Cacti performs no central administration of EMAIL delivery. It is the responsibility of the specific plugin modules to handle e-mail. Notification will be sent to the Cacti log depending upon the specific plugin authors intent.

I don't think so either. I think he wants to know how to monitor how many emails are currently in the queue to be delivered.

On the other hand, the Settings plugin now handles all settings for mail sending, and includes functions plugins can use to send email.
