Why don't cacti ask me max. value?

Post by TFC »

Hi,
I installed cacti0.8.4 on my RH 7.3 linux box.
When I want to create interface traffic graph, I want that cacti asks me max. value.
For this, I try to modify data templates of Interface-Traffic; I checked and saved Max. values of traffic_in and traffic_out tabs. Cacti does not ask me.
Then I try unchecked for same tabs. But cacti still don't ask me.
What must I do to ask me max. value of in and out traffic?

The value is not retroactive. You will need to create new data sources with the new template. Data sources that already existed before you made your edits to the template, were built with the old template. This means they do not have a user definable max value.

But I did it in 0.8.3
I mean:
/usr/local/rrdtool-1.0.46/bin/rrdtool create \
/www/htdocs/cacti/rra/m_2b_7507_traffic_in_15.rrd \
--step 300 \
DS:traffic_in:COUNTER:600:0:100000000 \
DS:traffic_out:COUNTER:600:0:100000000 \

RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:6:700 \
RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:1:17280 \
RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:24:775 \
RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:288:797 \
RRA:MAX:0.5:6:700 \
RRA:MAX:0.5:1:17280 \
RRA:MAX:0.5:24:775 \
RRA:MAX:0.5:288:797 \
when I create data sources İt asked me..

Correct. I just want to make sure that you edited the data template and then deleted the graph and data sources and recreated them. i have found that if I change a data template I need to delete the data sources and graphs. I then recreate them and I get the ability to edit the max value, or whatever I changed in the data template.

1) I changed data template of Traffic-Interface.
Max. Value options checked for traffic_in
Max. Value options unchecked for traffic out (at least one of max. value must be asked for this way)

2) I delete all graph and data sources about Traffic-Interface

3) I delete polling host

4) I recreate polling host

5) Interfaces are slected and created data sources.

Result: Cacti does not ask me max. value.
:(
Do I configure Data Query section?
