Previews show as broken images

Post by merlin »

I've just taken over looking after a machine that has cacti set up on it. I've never used cacti before and didn't set the machine up myself so i'm at the bottom of the learning curve.

Problem i am having is that everything works fine except the preview graphs. They show as a broken image. Clicking on them takes you to the correct graph which displays just fine.

I've skimmed through the docs and the faq and checked the settings against them but can't find anything obviously amiss.

Any advice on what might be wrong or on what area to look in would be a help.

Thanks in advance.

Check your rrdtool version and then goto Settings->General and set it there.

Previews still broken

Post by stevo »

I'm experiencing the same issue - preview images are broken, but clicking on them shows the 4 averages graphs.

I've confirmed that the version of rrdtool installed (1.2.23) matches what's set in cacti. Any other suggestions on things to check?

Check font file names configured with cacti. They must point to a file, not to a directory

Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't help. Previously the fonts settings in the Visual section of the Configuration Settings area had no entries. Changing them to specific font files made no difference.

In case it matters, this is running on Mac OS X.

I should also mention that not all of the graphs in Preview mode are showing up as broken images. Only those that are for the "Interface - Traffic" data template with Output Type ID of In/Out Bytes with Total Bandwidth. My other graphs of ucd/net Load Averages are showing the preview graphs without issue.

I experimented a little bit and the problem seems to be that previews are broken once COMMENTS are in the images. Any suggestions?

I came to this conclusion while leaving the COMMENTs on and just deleting the summation function: the preview-images also were broken. Only by taking away all comments did the preview-function work again.

This is resolved by the patch on the main web site for 0.8.6j.

Thank you! I thought I had installed the patches but apparently not.
