Install requested - help?
I'm getting tired of trying to get mrtg/rtg/cacti/ and other bandwidth monitoring tools installed and configured with my centos 5 system that I'm about to chuck the darn thing into the SF Bay.
I'm in need of someone who can honestly come into my server, set up cacti (installed, not showing graphs, giving error messages which I'll paste below), and not decide to compromise my system. This can be fee based, or idiot based - i.e. I'm an idiot and its an easy fix so someone will be polite enough to point out my ignorance and help for free.
This is the recent error:
[root@sano snmp]# php /var/www/html/cacti/poller.php
Timeout: No Response from 127.0.0.1:161.
06/08/2007 02:43:38 PM - SYSTEM STATS: Time:3.0473 Method:cmd.php Processes:1 Threads:N/A Hosts:3 HostsPerProcess:3 DataSources:6 RRDsProcessed:0
I can't get images generated, and I'm not sure if it also may have something to do with my snmpd.conf. I have confirmed that snmpd is running, and I installed rrdtool from source. Help?

it seems Net-SNMP is not running on your Cacti server.
Is this server 'up' (in Console -> Devices) ?

It looks like the problem lay in my snmpd.conf - so here's my present one which works for most things:
One thing that I am noticing is that its not reporting disk space usage correctly, or my ram usage correctly. Could someone help me on this? Also I'm wondering why in the preview pane the network device images aren't showing - but the graph is being produced when I click on it... strange (to me at least).
Thank you anyone for the help.
Code: Select all
com2sec local localhost public
group MyROGroup v1 local
group MyROGroup v2c local
group MyROGroup usm local
view all included .1 80
access MyROGroup "" any noauth exact all none none
Thank you anyone for the help.

Can you try with this in snmpd.conf :
If that works, follow the HowTo in my signature.

Wow, don't I feel slightly retarded... Looks like I choose a specific device, and only now did it occur to me that it was my boot partition, instead of my volume group... damn new partition tables...fmangeant wrote:Can you try with this in snmpd.conf :If that works, follow the HowTo in my signature.Code: Select all

Anyway - Now on to the memory problem. I just setup my cacti to poll another system, and straight out of the box it worked like a charm! A few minor adjustments to the snmpd.conf and it was working perfectly! Any ideas why the localhost system isn't reporting the correct 2 gigs ram in the graph? I can attach a screenshot if needed.
