If you had a choice, for installing Cacti and Weathermap on a system, which OS would be easier to implement.?
1. Ubuntu Feisty Fawn
2. Red Hat Enterprise
3. Windows Xp Pro
4. Windows STD 2003 server
I am a noobie to Cacti, after using another makers version for years, it was on Win XP Pro. So now we are looking for something to put up in the network center to glance at the trafic. Cacti appears to have way more plugins and options then our previous s/w.
Thanks
Which OS to use for Cacti and Weathermap ?

The Answer is whatever your most comfortable with...
I would stay away from XP pro, just because I think you should stick with a server based OS for your Monitoring server. With BSOD's Windows installer package you are going to be up and running quickly and easily.
Personally I would always stick to the OS I know best for production installs.
