Graph Y Axis Value Modifications

Post by AlexBreedon »

Hi guys,

Got the graph bloew and it's displaying the right values in the graph however I want to change the way the Y Axis is drawn so it displays more accurately the levels in numeric form.

How do I change the graph to do this?

Please tell us more exactly, what you're aiming at. Do you want to seperate data sources onto different graphs? Do you want to make the graph "per minute" instead of "per 5 minutes"?

I don't know about Alex, but the reason that I am watching this thread is I would love to find a way to change the Y Axis to show more detail. Rather than go from 0-10K then I assume 20K, something like 0-1000-2000-3000 etc, just so it is a little more accurate.

That is just my 2 cents worth.

See man rrdgraph and scroll down to the Y-Axis chapter.
Does this fit?

No what I mean is, the values polled are returning average figures of between 2 & 10, so why on the Y-axis is there a value of 10K ? instead of something more accurate like 0 - 10 or something ?

Because the highest value defines the y-axis by default. You may limit y-axis scale manually. But in this case the largest value will be way out of your graph

This is a more up to date version of the graph. Can you please explain how my graph now displays between 0-30K on the Y-Axis when none of the maximum values polled read anywhere near that value? The maximum value is in the 110 region so surely the graph should display something more accurate along the Y-Axis ?

Please visit this graph from Graph Management. Switch to DEBUG and post the rrdtool graph statements found. You will have CDEFs in place that are used differently for the graph lines and for the legends

Fixed the issue now, was a problem with one of the CDEF's being applied to the graph.
