Frederic refers to the "proc" directive of the snmpd.conf file. See bottom of http://docs.cacti.net/node/414

UCD-SNMP-MIB::prIndex.1 = INTEGER: 1
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prNames.1 = STRING: gthumb
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prMin.1 = INTEGER: 0
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prMax.1 = INTEGER: 0
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prCount.1 = INTEGER: 8
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prErrorFlag.1 = INTEGER: 0
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prErrMessage.1 = STRING:
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prErrFix.1 = INTEGER: 0
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prErrFixCmd.1 = STRING:

graph what?

Post by sebbs »

What data from your MIB tree are you trying to pull?

memory usage? CPU? httpd service?
You need the OID number to pull from your MIB tree.

I see what you are trying to do.

Which process are you trying to report on?
proc httpd?

snmpwalk output explained.

Post by sebbs »

So if you look at your output, your snmp daemon is monitoring the gthumb process, which is running.

In my snmpd.conf file I have 2 lines;
proc httpd
proc mysqld

and here is my snmpwalk output

[root@orlando ~]# snmpwalk -v 2c -c public localhost prTable
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prIndex.1 = INTEGER: 1
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prIndex.2 = INTEGER: 2
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prNames.1 = STRING: httpd <- Identified as 1
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prNames.2 = STRING: mysqld <- Identified as 2
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prMin.1 = INTEGER: 0
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prMin.2 = INTEGER: 0
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prMax.1 = INTEGER: 0
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prMax.2 = INTEGER: 0
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prCount.1 = INTEGER: 9 <- 9 running httpd processes
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prCount.2 = INTEGER: 1 <- 1 running mysqld process
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prErrorFlag.1 = INTEGER: 0
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prErrorFlag.2 = INTEGER: 0
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prErrMessage.1 = STRING:
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prErrMessage.2 = STRING:
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prErrFix.1 = INTEGER: 0
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prErrFix.2 = INTEGER: 0
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prErrFixCmd.1 = STRING:
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prErrFixCmd.2 = STRING:

does that make sense?
If all else fails, rm -rf /

Ok so now what?

Post by sebbs »

Can some of the hardcore cacti users explain to us, from my output above.....how would I go about graphing these process counts in Cacti?
If all else fails, rm -rf /
