Updated IronPort SoftwareVersion
I am now running this template against: IronPort AsyncOS 4.5.6-012
...and it is still working properly.

xml config file
I just used the xml config file on the C600 running latest AsyncOS 4.6.0-233 and it is working flawlessly. I am new to cacti and wanted to learn about the server end of the monitoring software which is why I went ahead and chose this piece of software.
It is sort of a pain to install but now that I got it all configured, I was very excited to see the graphs.
If you guys have any updated config files to work with IronPort appliances, please do post them as I work for this company and I can suggest these to other customers using cacti as well.
cheers.

Thanks for the Update
Solar,
I'm glad it worked for you. I haven't made any updates to the IronPort graph configuration. I'm certainly open to suggestions and input.
Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,
I have few questions regarding your configuration file...
1. How did you create an xml config file ?
2. Did you use the MIB file provided by IronPort?
I was confused in the beginning and thought that you would have to import the MIB file into cacti so you can monitor those variables but with your config file, I did not have to do that.
Are you monitoring all the variables that the IronPort support or you have left some out?
if you can kinda teach me few things about this...that would be really appreciated.

Thanks for this great script. We have two IronPort C30s, and i installed this, and I am getting data from everything except the temperature ones. Does anyone know if there is a way to update this, or is this maybe something that is no longer available.
Thanks much

C30s do not have the temperature sensor on them. That's why you do not see any data. There is nothing you can do about it but to disable graphing these graphs.apperrault wrote:Thanks for this great script. words cannot express how awesome this is.
seeing my queues for my mail is brilliant.
i'll let it run overnight so i have some data in the graphing and ill post you the graphs.
One Question, whats the units being measured in some of these figures? my dns requests are using decimal points. is this the averaging? eg. dns in the very short space of time its been monitoring is reporting an average of 414.46 m as common sense says i cant have less than a 1.0 for a dns request but if its averaging i can accept decimal points being used

Re: IronPort C10 Mail & Spam Appliance
I'm running an out-of-contract C30 running 3.7.1-001 - and none of the graphs display any data, so it sounds like you're right about needing > 4.0.8. Any idea why that is? Should I be able to hack this into working? I'd love to get this data - but can't upgrade this (EOL) box...superdave913 wrote:I'm submitting a host template for the IronPort C10 Mail and Spam Appliance. I am guessing that this template will work with most of their appliances running the AsyncOS.
This template was built against an IronPort running:
IronPort Model C10, AsyncOS Version: 4.5.0-736, Build Date: 2005-10-13,
I believe you need to be running at least 4.0.8 or 4.5 to support these SNMP features.
My IronPort has pretty low usage, making it difficult to test this template properly.
Please feel free to send any comments or suggestions on how this template could be improved.
Cheers,
Tim

Just import the tempates and all should be good.
I have a question for the developer, or anyone else that uses these appliances. Does anyone know if there is a way to graph the number of days left on your Feature Keys? How could i figure that out?
I really don't know much about SNMP, but if someone could give me a command, i would love to see if this data was available.
Let me know

If you look at the asynos MIB you should be able to see it... from what I recall you can find several of them.apperrault wrote:Just import the tempates and all should be good.

Unfortunately I haven't had access to an IronPort appliance for nearly a year. As such, I am unable to continue helping people with this template. It appears to be working well for most people. I am hoping to convince my new employer to purchase one, so I can start developing more templates.
I've got a set of templates that polls the ESA for ~25 more data points and graphs them. I'm making sure I've got authorization to release the poller script (hits the status xml page instead of the snmp daemon), and then I'll post it all.
IF I don't get authorization, I'll still release the template and just tell you what the script does, it's pretty simple.
