SNMP on win2k box

Post by laverde »

Hi guys,

I am tring to monitor windows 2k servers using cacti. I' ve installed ucd-snmp-4.2.3-win32.zip on my console, but I havent been able to monitor the main mesures on windows, I mean available HD, available memory, proccesor load average,...etc...

the problem, as far as I undestand has someting to do with my snmp agent. I am using microsoft SMNPD, with MIB-II installed (not sure about it, by the way, where can I find the mibII installer?), however, if I try to use snmpget (from net-snmo) to retrive an entrie from HOSTMIB (HOSTMIB) I alway get an error similar to: "There is no such variable name in this MIB"

here is an example:

C:\usr\bin>snmpget localhost public .1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.4
Error in packet
Reason: (noSuchName) There is no such variable name in this MIB.
Failed object: interfaces.ifTable.ifEntry.ifMtu

I am doing someting wrong? is there a limited set of OIDs in ms-SNMP ?

Best regards

To view whole MIB-II tree you have to use different command and OID:
snmpwalk localhost public .1.3.6.1.2.1
